UNLV Football to Compete for Mountain west Championship Against Boise State
LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV will travel to Boise State for the 2025 Mountain West Football Championship game, marking the third consecutive year the two programs will battle for the league title. The proclamation came Sunday morning following UNLV’s decisive 42-17 victory over UNR.
The Rebels (10-2, 6-2 Mountain West) finished tied for first in the conference with Boise State, San Diego state, and new Mexico, all posting 6-2 league records. Boise State (8-4, 6-2) secured the right to host the championship game based on the conference’s computer ratings tiebreaker system. This is the second time in three years UNLV has been part of a four-way tie for first place, ultimately prevailing through composite metrics.
UNLV Head Coach Dan Mullen has led the Rebels to a 10-win season for only the fourth time in program history and the first time in consecutive years.The team boasts a 30-10 record since the start of the 2023 season and enters the championship game on a four-game winning streak.
“I’m really excited for the program as this results from all of the hard work they put in to earn the right to play in the championship again,” said UNLV Director of Athletics Erick Harper.
Mullen added, “We are very excited to have the opportunity to play for the Mountain West title. I’m proud of the buy-in during year one from a team returning only two starters and with over 70 new players in the program. This team has improved every week during the season and we hope to play our best game in Boise.”
UNLV fell to Boise State 56-31 in their regular-season matchup on October 18.The 2025 Mountain West Championship game is scheduled for 5 p.m. PT on Friday at Albertsons Stadium and will be broadcast nationally on FOX.
