Goodwin Procter has expanded its healthcare practice with the addition of Nicole Aiken-Shaban, formerly of Reed Smith, the firm announced this week.
Aiken-Shaban joins Goodwin as a partner, bringing extensive experience in healthcare regulatory law. She advises a diverse client base including healthcare providers, suppliers, private equity funds, and life sciences companies, focusing on operational and business challenges, platform expansion, and transactional perform.
Her legal expertise centers on federal and state fraud and abuse regulations, specifically the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as beneficiary inducement prohibitions. Aiken-Shaban assists clients in structuring complex financial arrangements and contracts to ensure regulatory compliance. She as well provides counsel on reimbursement issues, value-based care models, healthcare licensing, and corporate practice of medicine regulations.
Beyond compliance, Aiken-Shaban’s practice includes representing clients in government investigations, audits, and matters related to the False Claims Act. She also conducts internal compliance assessments to proactively mitigate risk.
Aiken-Shaban is actively involved in the Philadelphia legal community, currently serving as treasurer and secretary on the Executive Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association’s Business Law Section. She previously co-chaired the Healthcare Law Committee and has served on the Board of Directors for The Center for Emerging Visual Artists.
