TimesApps Introduces Enhanced Campaign Tracking and User Engagement Tools

TimesApps has rolled out a new feature, `toiPlusEvents`, designed to bolster campaign tracking and user engagement across its digital platforms. This update integrates Google Ads (gtag) and Facebook (FB) event tracking, alongside the Survicate customer feedback platform, to provide a more comprehensive understanding of user interactions and campaign performance.

The `toiPlusEvents` functionality allows for dynamic loading of these tools based on site configuration and user status. Initially, if specific site settings are available and the user is not identified as a prime subscriber, the system will automatically activate Google and Facebook event tracking and load the Survicate JavaScript. This ensures that campaign data is captured from the outset for non-prime users when campaign parameters are pre-defined.

In scenarios where initial site settings are not present or the user is identified as a prime subscriber, `toiPlusEvents` will fetch site settings from a designated Jarvis API endpoint. This dynamic approach ensures that the correct campaign tracking and feedback mechanisms are deployed, adapting to whether the user is viewing a prime-specific layout or a general section. The decision to load survicate, as a notable example, is contingent on the `allowedSurvicateSections` or `allowedSurvicatePrimeSections` configuration retrieved from the API.

The integration of Survicate is managed through a robust loading mechanism. If the Survicate object (`_sva`) and its `setVisitorTraits` method are available, user attributes such as subscription status (`toi_user_subscription_status`) and geolocation (`toi_user_geolocation`) are set directly. If not, the system intelligently waits for the `SurvicateReady` event before applying these user traits. The Survicate script itself is dynamically injected into the document’s head to ensure efficient loading.

This initiative by TimesApps aims to provide granular insights into user behavior and campaign effectiveness, enabling more targeted and responsive digital strategies. The ability to adapt tracking and engagement tools based on user status and available configurations marks a significant step in optimizing the user experience and campaign ROI.
