Looks like the Jon Snow TV show is over before it even began. It’s now part of the growing list of announced “Game of Thrones” spin-offs that where canceled. At least that one had a reason – the creators couldn’t come up with a story good enough to bring Kit Harington’s character back.
“game of Thrones” has become a huge franchise. “House of the Dragon” has added to the story and history by focusing on House Targaryen, and “A Knight of the Seven kingdoms” will offer a different, smaller-scale adventure. It seems HBO and Warner Bros. want to treat Westeros like “Star Wars,” creating a world that can hold many different stories. One of those will be a Sea Snake spin-off (basically a “Sinbad in Westeros” show). Though, The Hollywood Reporter says that project is now being developed as an animated series to save money.
The Aegon the conqueror prequel spin-off is still in advancement as both a potential drama series and a large-scale movie like “Dune” from WB’s film team. While the Jon Snow sequel series was scrapped, the idea isn’t wholly gone. HBO thought the idea of a broken Jon Snow was “too much of a bummer” and shelved the show, but THR reports that “Drops of God” writer Quoc Dang Tran is working on a new concept for a “Game of Thrones” sequel series. It might involve moving the story from north of The Wall to Essos and adding Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark as a main character.
