Hanoi to Host 19th Annual Elementary School basketball Tournament in 2025
Hanoi, Vietnam – The Hanoi Elementary School Basketball Tournament will tip off its 19th season in October 2025, building on nearly two decades of growth from a small competition of 16 players to a city-wide event encompassing approximately 150 teams from 100 elementary schools.
Originally launched 18 years ago with just eight participating schools, the tournament has become a significant sporting event for Hanoi’s young athletes. The 2025 season aims to further promote sportsmanship and a passion for basketball throughout the city’s elementary school system.
The Organizing committee recently announced the tournament schedule and detailed professional adjustments designed to maximize team performance. A press conference and schedule lottery will be held on october 23, 2025.Qualifying rounds will take place November 1, 2, 8, and 9, 2025, at four locations: Nguyen Elementary School, Newton Gold Mark Elementary school, Dichon Bong B Elementary School, and Archimedes Academy Elementary School.
Following the qualifiers,16 male teams – comprised of 15 top-performing teams and one specially selected team - and 16 female teams – similarly structured – will advance to the finals,scheduled for November 22 and 23,2025,at I-SAC Newton Primary School.
Prize money will be awarded to the top teams: first place will receive a cup, flag, gold medal, and cash prize (one male and one female team); second place will receive a flag, silver medal, and cash prize (one male and one female team); and third place will receive a flag, bronze medal, and cash compensation (two male and two female teams). Additional awards will be given for style, positive competitive spirit, and best player (one male and one female).
The tournament receives annual support from Nestle Vietnam Co., ltd. (Nestle Milo brand), along with Young Pioneers and Children Newspaper.Nestle Milo will also provide nutritional drinks, equipment, and barley sprout-based beverages to support the athletes throughout the season.
