Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary: Cast Reunion & Premiere Night
The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood hosted a reunion Monday night as Disney+ premiered its “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special,” bringing together Miley Cyrus and several original cast members.
Cyrus, who starred as both Miley Stewart and her alter ego Hannah Montana, was joined by Jason Earles (Jackson Stewart), Cody Linley (Jake Ryan), Shanica Knowles, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle and Moisés Arias, according to multiple reports from the event.
The special, described as a “love letter to fans,” revisits iconic moments from the Disney Channel series and features Cyrus performing some of her hit songs, as reported by ABC News. Cyrus emphasized the importance of the show’s fanbase, stating, “Without you all, this show would have never been what This proves,” at the premiere.
The event likewise drew a diverse group of celebrities, including Lainey Wilson, JoJo Siwa, Jaden Smith, Willow Smith, and David Archuleta, signaling the show’s enduring cultural impact. Country music star Lainey Wilson shared how she portrayed Hannah Montana for birthday parties for five years, whereas JoJo Siwa revealed her extensive collection of “Hannah Montana” merchandise.
Jason Earles marked the occasion by wearing an authentic Rico Surf Shop t-shirt from his wardrobe during the original series, despite it no longer fitting, as he told reporters at the event.
Miley Cyrus used the premiere as an opportunity to thank fans for their loyalty and support, attributing her career and personal life to their dedication. She also hinted at upcoming new music releases, according to reports from ABC7.
The premiere was attended by Cyrus’s fiancé, Maxx Morando, her mother, Tish Cyrus-Purcell, and sister, Brandi Cyrus, alongside their respective partners. The Walt Disney Company owns Disney Channel, Disney+, and the ABC station that reported on the event.
The “Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special” is currently streaming on both Disney+ and Hulu.
