Halloween Oirschot Turnout Surpasses Last Year, Omroep Brabant Says
More than 6,000 visitors faced howling beasts, ringing bells, and grasping zombies during a three-kilometer Halloween walking route in Oirschot, Omroep Brabant reported on October 31, 2026. The evening event transformed the entire village center into a massive maze of horror acts, drawing crowds that outpaced previous editions.
Thousands Brave the Oirschot Maze
The event kicked off after dark as thousands of participants walked through blocked-off streets and abandoned municipal buildings filled with actors. Visitors encountered 25 distinct theatrical acts staged inside the vacant old town hall. Street paths restricted by fences funneled attendees past snarling figures and hidden traps designed to grab at ankles from subterranean pits.
“They keep following us, stop!” a young girl shouted while trying to escape a group of growling performers, according to Omroep Brabant. Another visitor doubled over in fear as two horned actors equipped with bells pursued her along the dark route. “I am out of words, it is so scary,” she said while walking the trail with her niece, noting the trek is an annual tradition.
Growth Over a Decade of Fright
Halloween Oirschot expanded significantly over a ten-year span, shifting from a modest lantern procession into a village-wide production engaging 330 actors. Chairperson Ruud van der Venne noted that turnout surpassed the 6,000 tickets sold during the prior year, driven by steady crowds and uncounted attendees slipping past the gates.
“Vorig jaar hadden we 6,000 kaartjes verkocht. Maar als we de rijen nu zien, verwachten we dat we daar wel overheen zijn gegaan,” Van der Venne told Omroep Brabant, referencing the ticket sales and the long queues. Organizers enforced a strict minimum age of fourteen years for specific high-intensity horror zones to prevent severe frights among younger children.
Attendees Praise Craftsmanship as Organizers Prioritize Public Reaction
While some attendees from Belgium and surrounding towns questioned their decision to enter midway through the course, others praised the detailed craftsmanship of the sets and actors. Organizers maintain that seeing the public reaction remains the primary goal of the large-scale production, which requires months of logistical coordination among local volunteers and municipal entities.
