Texans Legend Andre Johnson Brightens Day for Local YMCA Children

HOUSTON – Hall of Fame wide receiver Andre Johnson returned to Houston on Thursday, September 11, 2025, to share an afternoon of shopping and camaraderie with 10 children from the Greater Houston YMCA. The event, held at Dick’s Sporting Goods in Meyerland Plaza, provided a memorable experience for the deserving youth, facilitated by Johnson and KPRC-2 Sports Director Randy McIlvoy.

The visit underscores Johnson’s ongoing commitment to the Houston community he once captivated on the football field. Recently inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame as a member of the 2024 class, Johnson continues to prioritize philanthropic efforts, using his platform to positively impact the lives of local children. This event offered the YMCA kids a chance to connect with a local hero and receive support for their athletic pursuits.

Johnson spent the afternoon personally assisting the children with their shopping, ensuring each child had the opportunity to select items they needed and desired. The Greater Houston YMCA expressed gratitude for Johnson’s generosity and dedication to fostering positive experiences for young people in the area.
