Greg James’ Longest Ride for Comic Relief: Route & How to Donate

Radio 1 DJ Greg James will embark on a 1,000km (630 miles) cycling challenge across the UK for Red Nose Day, beginning March 13th from Weymouth, Dorset.

The eight-day journey, dubbed “Radio 1’s Longest Ride,” will see James cycle a tandem bicycle to Edinburgh, concluding on Red Nose Day, March 20th. This marks his third fundraising effort for Comic Relief, and he has described it as his most “ludicrous challenge” yet, adding he had previously vowed to never undertake another such event after a 2018 endurance test.

James will spend at least eight hours daily in the saddle, traversing through Wales, the Midlands, and the North of England. He will be joined by fellow Radio 1 presenters and “special guests” along the route, according to announcements made on his breakfast demonstrate. He anticipates a mix of well-known personalities and listeners will participate, though he joked that participants must be proficient cyclists.

The challenge is intended to raise funds for projects supporting individuals in need, focusing on providing assistance with food, shelter, and safety. James stated a small amount of personal discomfort is worthwhile in pursuit of a substantial fundraising goal for Comic Relief.

Prior to this undertaking, James completed five triathlons in five days for Red Nose Day in 2016, and in 2018 cycled between Scafell Pike, Snowdon, and Ben Nevis, climbing each peak. Listeners will learn on Friday how they can join James on the first leg of the ride.
