Gutfeld Recounts Wild First Meeting With Fallon
Late-night rivals bonded over drinks at a clandestine bar
Greg Gutfeld shared an amusing anecdote about his initial encounter with fellow late-night host Jimmy Fallon, revealing the pair first met years ago while intoxicated at an “illegal speakeasy.” The Fox News personality’s story unfolded during his appearance on NBC’s “The Tonight Show.”
A Boozy Reunion
Upon greeting **Fallon**, **Gutfeld** playfully remarked that the embrace “brought back memories.” **Fallon** expressed surprise, to which **Gutfeld** quipped, “Yes, you have no memory of it. Which is understandable, because we were wasted.”
The host of “Gutfeld!” described the establishment, located in Hell’s Kitchen and owned by a mutual friend named Tracy, as resembling a place “where special ops forces waterboard terrorists.”
Fallon, as his memory returned, interjected, “This is hilarious – we’ve met before.”
He added, “I think I remember bringing beer into the bar, and then him charging me for my own beer.”
Gutfeld characterized Tracy as stingy but capable, joking, “He’s very cheap, but if you want somebody dead, he’ll do it.”
Unexpected Antics
**Gutfeld** then vividly recalled **Fallon** spotting him, his eyes lighting up before he “tackle[d] me, like you’re a giant golden retriever.” The wrestling continued until **Fallon** shifted his attention to **Gutfeld**’s companion, Andy.
Fallon‘s reaction was one of stunned disbelief, exclaiming, “What?!”
Gutfeld continued, recounting how **Fallon** confiscated and crushed his cigarette, admonishing him with, “These things will kill you!”
When **Gutfeld** pointed out the cost of cigarettes, **Fallon**’s demeanor reportedly shifted to sadness before he departed.
Minutes later, **Fallon** reappeared, presenting **Gutfeld** with a fresh pack. “I go, ‘That was really sweet. You want me to die,’”
**Gutfeld** quipped, eliciting laughter.
Fallon later apologized with a grin, “I’m sorry I tackled you.”

A Memorable Connection
“It was all very good-natured, and it was a great memory,”
**Gutfeld** told **Fallon**. “And I’m so glad I finally got to tell you!”
**Fallon** confirmed the story’s veracity, stating, “I’m so happy. That’s a true story… I remember. All the details you said are correct.”
The conversation also touched upon **Gutfeld**’s FOX Nation game show, “What Did I Miss?”, which challenges contestants to distinguish real news from fabricated stories, and his career trajectory leading to his successful hosting roles.
