Greenberg Traurig’s Ben mcguire Recognized as New England Legal Awards finalist
BOSTON – Sept.9, 2025 – Ben McGuire, co-chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Public Finance & Infrastructure Practice adn a shareholder in the firm’s Boston office, has been named a finalist for the 2025 Banking and Finance Attorney of the Year award presented by the New England Legal Awards (NELA). The award winners will be announced at a gala on October 23rd at the Westin Copley Place in Boston.
McGuire’s nomination recognizes his leadership on complex and notable financial transactions throughout New England and nationally.He has served as bond counsel for key Massachusetts entities including the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority and the Massachusetts Progress Finance Agency. He also provides disclosure counsel services to the executive Office for Governance and Finance of The Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts School Building Authority, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and the University of Massachusetts system (including both the Building Authority and the University itself). Moreover, McGuire frequently acts as underwriter’s counsel for investment banks involved in financing for higher education, healthcare, and nonprofit organizations across the region.

McGuire’s practice encompasses a broad spectrum of public finance, infrastructure, project finance, and commercial loan transactions. He advises on public debt offerings, private placements, and direct lending, with experience spanning state infrastructure projects - including those related to water, sewer, electricity, and transportation – as well as financing for hospitals, educational institutions (public and private), and various other facilities like assisted living centers, manufacturers, and waste disposal sites. His work often involves sophisticated financial tools such as credit enhancements, security provisions, intercreditor agreements, and interest rate hedges.
