Safer Homes on the Horizon: 23 Chemical Products Earn Approval in 2025 Review
A new wave of safer household cleaning options is coming to market, thanks to the latest round of reviews under the “Chemical Product Review system.” Launched in 2021, this initiative helps consumers choose products with reduced levels of hazardous chemicals, achieved through full ingredient disclosure and rigorous safety assessments.
The 3rd Chemical Product Review Committee recently concluded its evaluations, approving eight new products from three companies – Kangcheong Co., Ltd., Jiwon Corp., and Daesung Industries – as suitable for the program. Additionally, 15 products from six companies successfully renewed their certifications, demonstrating continued commitment to safety standards.
The review process is thorough, encompassing scrutiny of raw material safety, supply chain transparency, undisclosed ingredient safety (including trade secrets), manufacturing processes, and overall company safety management.
Kangcheong Co., Ltd. impressed reviewers with its ’chemizero Cleaner for Glass and Vinyl Houses’ and ‘Chemizero Light-shading Paint remover,’ both lauded as pure soap-based cleaners free from synthetic surfactants, preservatives, and fragrances.Jiwon Corp.’s ‘Kongseal stainless steel cleaner’ (two varieties) earned praise for its robust allergen control, minimizing the risk of accidental contamination. Daesung industries showcased its safety expertise across multiple cleaning categories with its ‘Giro Wide Moisture Remover’ and a renewal of its ‘Homebly Percarbonate of Sodium, Baking Soda, and Citric Acid’ line.
Renewal approvals were granted to Bullsone Co., Ltd., Clean House Co., Ltd., Lotte Shopping Co., Ltd. (lotte Mart Business Division), Mediance Co., Ltd., and LG Household & Health Care Co., Ltd. Notably, Mediance co.,Ltd.’s ‘B&B Fabric Detergent’ and ‘B&B Fabric Softener’ raised the bar for fragrance safety, incorporating a formula excluding over 80 potential allergens. This innovation was supported by Korea takasago Fragrance Industry Co., ltd., a key fragrance supplier, who proactively disclosed 100% of its trade secret ingredients, setting a new standard for supply chain transparency.
Consumers can learn more about these approved products at the Chemical Safety Week exhibition, hosted by the Green Consumer Alliance on November 24th and 25th.
