Messina Sportiva is expanding its reach internationally and bolstering its youth development program, with Carmine Coppola spearheading both initiatives. A recent meeting between club legend Alessandro Del Piero and Coppola signaled the launch of these key strategies, focused on establishing a strong presence in the Australian market and nurturing young talent.
The club is prioritizing the relaunch of its youth sector, appointing Coppola as its first ambassador to Australia. He will scout players aged 15-20 across Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney, identifying prospects for the Academy Messina. This initiative leverages the Racing City Group’s existing network of thousands of affiliated players. Together, Messina Sportiva is preparing for the upcoming winter transfer window, opening December 1st, aiming to add “one-two significant profiles” to the existing squad, according to club officials.
Technical Director Pagniello emphasized the need for strategic additions, stating, “We need to add one-two critically important profiles, right and functional profiles for an already formed group, so we perhaps prefer to wait rather than move in a frenzy.” He acknowledged the team’s challenging start to the season, noting the impact of a disrupted preparation period and the physical demands on young players, while setting a clear target of securing another twenty points for Serie D salvation. “Failure would have been too great a disgrace and we worked to avoid it.“
