A glorious era for the world’s oldest domesticated elephant ‘Bijuli Prasad’ came to an end on Monday. He breathed his last at Bihali Tea Estate in Biswanath in Assam. With his demise, the 90-year-old majestic journey that took the colonial heritage into the digital age has come to an end. Hundreds of fans paid heartwarming tributes to ‘Grandpa Hathi’ while bidding a grand farewell. The old elephant was ill for a few years and has now been put to rest in the tea garden itself. Fans said that ‘we are all saddened by the death of Bijuli Prasad. This elephant was our pride. We paid our respects as it went on its onward journey. Will always remember electricity. This elephant was privileged in the Bihali Tea Estate of Magor Group in Sonitpur district of Assam. He enjoyed the royal hospitality very much. The male elephant had a huge body and moved majestically through the lush green tea bushes of the estate.
