Bandarlampung, Lampung – The Indonesian government is actively preparing to establish a Public Service Agency (BLU) dedicated to providing comprehensive training for prospective Indonesian Migrant workers (PMI). Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers, Abdul Kadir Karding, announced the upcoming program, emphasizing the government’s commitment to facilitating this crucial training. “There will definitely be a future program that can facilitate training for prospective migrant workers or students before they work abroad,” Karding stated in Bandarlampung on Wednesday. “However, we must first find and prepare a financing scheme.”
The government is exploring the utilization of the People’s Business Credit (KUR) program to finance these training initiatives. Karding explained that the training would be supported by unsecured people’s business credit, featuring an interest rate of six percent with a maximum limit of Rp100 million. This funding is intended to cover training,overseas placement preparation,and temporary living expenses for prospective migrant workers.
Beyond training, the establishment of the Migrant BLU is also envisioned to lead to the creation of a migrant fund. This fund will provide financial assistance to prospective migrant workers, current migrant workers, and retired workers. “We hope that once this is established, we can help prospective migrant workers, and that migrant workers can become professional workers,” Karding added.
