Australian Sprint Star Gout Concludes record-Breaking School Career with National Title
BRISBANE, Australia – Rising Australian sprinter Gout Gout capped a remarkable 12 months and his high school career with a victory at a recent athletics meet, solidifying his status as a force on the world stage. The win marked his final appearance representing IGS, the school where he established at least five GPS records.
Gout’s ascent has been meteoric. Over the past year,he shattered the long-standing Australian 200m record, previously held by Peter Norman since the 1968 Mexico Olympics, initially clocking 20.04 in Brisbane in December. He later refined his personal best to 20.02, and also broke the 10-second barrier for the 100m (though aided by illegal tailwinds).
The meet served as a landmark achievement for Gout, concluding a period of unprecedented success. He reached the semi-finals of the 200m at the world Athletics Championships in Tokyo and secured his first open national title.
“I just can’t wait to go on that next journey. For me, it’s the world stage,” Gout said, reflecting on his ambitions. His conduct both on and off the track, even offering encouragement to competitors from the lane next door, spoke volumes for his character and professionalism.
