GoPro MISSION 1 Series: New 8K Action Camera with 1-Inch Sensor
Foreign media outlets have highlighted the GoPro Mission 1 Pro 8K 60fps as the company’s highest-quality action camera to date, despite its premium pricing. The device, launched under the Mission 1 Series, features a 1-inch sensor, an AI-powered GP3 chip and 8K Open Gate video capabilities, according to reports from Thai and international tech publications.
RTB, a technology news platform, confirmed the release of the Mission 1 Series, emphasizing its advanced hardware. The camera includes a 50MP sensor and supports 8K video recording, positioning it as a competitor to high-end action cameras in the market. Pricing details remain undisclosed in official statements, but local Thai sources note the model is “ราคาแรง,” a term translating to “expensive” in Thai, suggesting it may target professional or high-end consumer segments.
Sanook.com, a Thai news website, reported that the Mission 1 Series leverages the GP3 chip for enhanced performance, enabling features such as real-time AI processing for video stabilization and scene recognition. This aligns with GoPro’s broader strategy to integrate artificial intelligence into its devices, a trend observed in recent product iterations.
Despite the technological upgrades, the launch comes amid ongoing competition in the action camera market. Bangkok Biz News noted that GoPro aims to “ทวงบัลลังก์ Action Cam,” a phrase meaning “reclaim the action camera throne,” signaling the company’s intent to reassert its dominance after years of market share erosion to rivals like DJI and Insta360.
GoPro has not yet announced specific retail availability or pricing for the Mission 1 Series. However, the company’s focus on high-resolution video and AI integration underscores its effort to differentiate the product in a saturated market. The device is expected to be available through official channels and select retailers, though exact rollout timelines remain unconfirmed.
