Google launches Fitbit Edge fitness tracker with AI and 7-day battery
Google launched the Google Fitbit Edge on October 12, 2026, positioning the new fitness tracker as a middle ground between traditional bands and full-featured smartwatches. Available for preorder starting October 12 and shipping on October 27, 2026, the device arrives with a price tag of 179,99 dollars or 180 euros, including a three-month subscription to Google Health Premium.
The Google Fitbit Edge features a recycled aluminum case measuring 11.5 mm in thickness and a hybrid OLED display that offers 46 percent more viewing area than previous models. Powered by large language models, the device automatically recognizes over 100 types of workouts and features Health Guardian capabilities to analyze background patterns for blood pressure trends and insulin resistance estimations.
Fitbit Edge Features Lightweight Design and Long Battery Life
The wearable is built to follow the natural curve of the wrist for all-day and sleep usage, featuring a casing weight that Google reports is 45 percent lower than the Apple Watch Series 12. Its oval Hybrid OLED screen is paired with an interface inspired by the Pixel Watch 5 logic to minimize menu navigation. For power, the Fitbit Edge delivers up to seven days of battery life on a full charge, which takes 90 minutes. A five-minute magnetic fast charge provides an additional day of autonomy. Company spokesporters noted that the device lacks a built-in microphone and speaker, meaning it mirrors calls and text alerts but does not support direct voice calls or contactless mobile payments.
Google Offers Four Finishes and Partners with Flo Health
The device comes in four finishes—Obsidian, Fog, Olive, and Canyon—with interchangeable straps such as Active Sport, Performance Loop, a magnetic variant, and a stainless steel mesh metallic band. Alongside the hardware release, Google announced a multi-year partnership with Flo Health to allow users to synchronize data and correlate menstrual cycle phases with physical performance and rest.
