Google Careers: Privacy, EEO, Accommodation & Application Guidelines

March 23, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Google has reaffirmed its commitment to equal employment opportunity, outlining its policies regarding applicant and candidate data privacy. The company’s policies, detailed in its Applicant and Candidate Privacy Policy, cover the collection and use of information shared during the application and recruitment process.

According to the policy, Google collects a range of information, including names, contact details, resumes, cover letters, perform experience, educational transcripts, interview details, salary expectations, relocation preferences, and details on how applicants learned about the position. The company also processes sensitive demographic information, such as gender, citizenship, nationality, medical information, and racial or ethnic origin, where applicable. Reference information obtained through background checks is also included.

The policy extends to information relating to previous applications to Google or its subsidiary, Google Operations Center (GOC), as well as prior employment history with either organization. Data acquired from publicly available sources is also covered. Google states it will validate requests for information access by verifying interactions with the company and may request additional information.

Google’s commitment to equal opportunity is further emphasized in its broader statements, asserting a dedication to building a diverse workforce representative of its user base and fostering a culture of belonging. The company prohibits discrimination based on race, creed, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, national origin, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, or any other legally protected characteristic. An accommodations form is available for applicants requiring assistance.

The company also notes that English proficiency is a requirement for most roles, to facilitate global collaboration. Google explicitly states it does not accept unsolicited resumes from recruitment agencies and is not responsible for any associated fees.
