Goo Hye Sun’s Weight Loss & Business Success with KOOROLL
South Korean actress and filmmaker Goo Hye-sun announced the sell-out of her handmade leather pouch keyrings, following earlier success with a controversial hair roller product, according to reports on Wednesday.
Goo Hye-sun revealed on social media that she had reached a weight of 46.78kg, alongside news of the continued success of her “Kuroll” hair rollers, which currently hold the top keyword ranking and category leadership, according to a post on March 21st. She expressed gratitude for the sold-out status of the rollers.
The success comes after a period of debate surrounding the pricing of the Kuroll hair rollers, which retail for 13,000 won (approximately $10 USD) each, or 25,000 won for a set of two. Some consumers criticized the price as being higher than comparable products available on the market, which typically range from 500 to 5,000 won. Goo Hye-sun defended the price point, explaining that the Kuroll rollers utilize a design that reduces plastic usage by 80% and offers improved durability and hygiene compared to traditional rollers. She also indicated plans for future discounts to make the product more accessible.
The newly released leather pouch keyrings are being sold online for 150,000 won (approximately $115 USD) each. Goo Hye-sun described the creation process as an “all-night handmade” endeavor, showcasing her involvement in the product’s design and production.
Goo Hye-sun, who debuted as an advertising model in 2002 and gained prominence through roles in dramas such as “Boys Over Flowers,” graduated from Sungkyunkwan University in 2024 and subsequently completed an accelerated program at the KAIST graduate school in January of this year. She co-developed the technology behind the Kuroll rollers with Professor Heeshin Kim at KAIST, securing a patent for the design in December 2021. The product also received an award for excellence in patent technology last year.
