God Save Birmingham: New Gameplay Trailer & Alpha Test Sign-Ups Revealed

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Ocean Drive Studio has released a novel gameplay trailer for God Save Birmingham, a medieval Birmingham-set survival game featuring crafting and zombies. The trailer showcases updates planned for the alpha version, including a new tutorial system, additional weapons, and an item durability mechanic.

The studio announced a two-phase closed alpha test for the game. The first phase will be exclusive to participants of a prior pre-alpha test, allowing them to evaluate the changes. A second phase will broaden access, though it will remain a closed test. Interested players can apply to participate here.

God Save Birmingham places players in a historically recreated English city during a zombie apocalypse. The early access version will focus on a sandbox mode and encompass approximately one-quarter of Birmingham’s area. The full city and a story campaign are planned for the final release. Players will necessitate to scavenge for supplies, craft tools and weapons, hunt for food, and seek shelter while facing constant threats from hordes of the undead.

The game emphasizes physics-based interactions, allowing players to barricade gates with furniture, leap over obstacles to knock down enemies, and sever zombie limbs. Developers have meticulously recreated the atmosphere of medieval Birmingham, including its markets, feudal estates, blacksmiths, taverns, and St. Martin’s Church on the Bull Ring.

God Save Birmingham is slated for release on PC via Steam. A specific date for the early access launch has not yet been announced.
