Gnarls Barkley Announce New Album ‘Atlanta’ & Share First Single “Pictures”

Gnarls Barkley, the duo comprised of CeeLo Green and Danger Mouse, released their first new song in 18 years, “Pictures,” today, February 26, 2026, and announced their final album, Atlanta, set to arrive March 6.

“Pictures” draws inspiration from Green’s childhood experiences riding the MARTA public train system in Atlanta, according to a press statement. He recalled a consistent directive from his middle school principal: “Every Friday, he would advise me to go when I would gain to school. Without fail. I was in eighth grade and I would leave school and ride the train alone from 8 A.M. Until 2:30 P.M.” Green described the song as “like going back to square one – it’s a full circle moment,” adding that it embodies “the spirit of Gnarls Barkley is always self-discovery. The sweet, the sad, and the strange. The universe, the adventure inside of yourself.”

The forthcoming album, Atlanta, is intended as a “capstone to the Gnarls Barkley story,” according to a press release. The duo, who first gained prominence with their 2006 debut album St. Elsewhere and its hit single “Crazy,” had always planned a third album following 2008’s The Odd Couple, but other creative endeavors intervened.

Both Green and Danger Mouse have maintained active solo careers in the years since their last release as Gnarls Barkley. Green released his sixth studio album, CeeLo Green is Thomas Calloway, in 2020, following previous albums Heart Blanche (2015) and CeeLo’s Magic Moment (2012). He is also known for his role as a judge on the television show The Voice, and has collaborated with artists including Eminem and Tyrese.

Danger Mouse has been prolific in collaborative projects, working with artists such as Sparklehorse, Daniele Luppi, and Karen O. His most recent album, Cheat Codes, was a collaboration with Black Thought in 2022, and he also contributed to a song with MorMor, “Wonder,” in 2025.
