Global average temperatures reached a record high in 2023, with the year averaging 1.45 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, according to data from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S). The European Union’s climate monitoring agency reported that the margin of record was 0.17 degrees Celsius, marking the warmest year since records began in 1850.
