The Creative Partnership Driving the Narrative
Directed by Hirokazu Koreeda, the film adapts the original work by Tatsuki Fujimoto. The story follows Fujino, a young girl confident in her drawing talent, and Kyomoto, a reclusive classmate with superior artistic ability. Their shared passion for creating manga brings them together. The narrative spans a thirteen-year journey starting from their elementary school days, capturing their growth with sensitivity.
Production took place primarily in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture. Filming spanned all four seasons, incorporating the changing scenery of spring, summer, autumn, and winter directly into the visual style of the feature.
