Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Injury Status improves, But Remains Out for Wednesday’s Game
Milwaukee Bucks superstar giannis Antetokounmpo will miss Wednesday’s NBA Cup matchup against the Miami Heat, the team announced, despite a recent change in his injury designation that initially suggested a potentially earlier return. Antetokounmpo has been sidelined for over a week after sustaining a strained adductor during the Bucks’ Nov. 17 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, contributing to Milwaukee’s current five-game losing streak. His absence is particularly notable amid a growing number of injuries to prominent NBA players early in the 2025-26 season.
The shift in Antetokounmpo’s status – from initially being ruled out before previous games to being listed as questionable on Wednesday’s injury report – offered a glimmer of hope for his swift recovery. However, Milwaukee ultimately ruled him out approximately an hour before tip-off.
Antetokounmpo suffered the adductor strain in the Nov. 17 game against Cleveland and underwent an MRI the following day. He was initially projected to miss one to two weeks of action, according to ESPN.
Through 13 games this season, the 30-year-old forward is averaging 31.2 points, 10.8 rebounds, and 6.8 assists for the Bucks.
