Sancho Returns to Manchester After Chelsea Loan
Sancho’s search for a new club follows a turbulent five-year period at Old Trafford. He originally joined Manchester United from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for a reported £73 million fee. His time in Manchester did not develop as anticipated, leading to multiple loan spells away from the club.
During his tenure with United, Sancho returned to Dortmund on loan and subsequently spent the 2024–25 season at Chelsea. That Stamford Bridge agreement included an obligation to buy, but Chelsea ultimately paid a £5 million penalty to send the winger back to Manchester after he made 41 appearances. Last season, Sancho featured on loan at Aston Villa, making 39 appearances as Unai Emery’s side secured Champions League qualification and won the Europa League, with Sancho appearing as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg.
Getafe Signs Dani Carvajal as Sancho Trains
Getafe’s pursuit of Sancho follows the club’s recent acquisition of former Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal. The 34-year-old Spain right-back joined Getafe on a free transfer after his contract at the Bernabéu expired in June, signing a deal that runs until June 2027.
While evaluating his next destination, Sancho has shared training footage on his Instagram account. His recent activity included a visit to non-league side Flixton, prompting the North West Counties League club to clarify publicly that the former England international was not on trial with them.
