Germany Sees Surge in UFO Sightings Following Pentagon Document Release

Germany is experiencing a spike in unidentified anomalous phenomena sightings, with the Central Research Network for Extraordinary Celestial Phenomena logging between three and six reports daily as of August 2026. According to network director Hansjuergen Koehler, the organization has investigated approximately 14,000 sighting reports, driven upward by ongoing international disclosures and declassified files released by the Pentagon.

The Scope of Germany’s Sighting Surge

The Central Research Network for Extraordinary Celestial Phenomena, known as CENAP, functions as Germany’s primary private investigative network for extraordinary celestial events. Director Hansjuergen Koehler stated in an interview that reporting volume has reached historic highs. While the investigative team analyzes multiple daily accounts, Koehler noted that the vast majority of these observations ultimately receive conventional earthly explanations.

Most investigated objects turn out to be commercial aircraft, rocket stages, satellites, meteors, distant planets, weather balloons, or event lasers projecting from kilometers away. Investigators frequently encounter cases that remain officially unresolved simply due to a lack of critical evidentiary data, such as high-resolution video capture. Koehler advises observers to utilize free astronomy tools, including mobile phone applications, to identify standard celestial bodies before filing extraordinary reports.

International Disclosures and Pentagon Declassifications

The declassification push began after former President Barack Obama remarked in a podcast interview that unidentified aerial phenomena were real. President Donald Trump subsequently ordered the release of government files, criticizing the prior administration’s disclosures while initiating a broad declassification program.

The transparency effort commenced in May with approximately 160 documents, followed by four subsequent batches of witness testimony, video footage, and imagery. The Pentagon released its fifth batch of files, which includes 41 declassified records featuring more than a dozen videos, three still images, and roughly 20 PDF documents spanning dates from 1953 to the present year.

Analysis of Declassified Military Records

Among the latest records released by the Pentagon are six videos capturing a September 2021 encounter involving Special Operations forces aboard an AC-130J gunship operating over the Gulf of Oman. Additional footage recorded by a government special agent in the western United States displays slow-moving, black-hot thermal anomalies captured through infrared sensors.

The documentation also incorporates eight FBI 302 witness-interview forms accompanied by artist renderings of observed objects. Despite the expanding public archive, United States officials emphasize that the data contains no confirmed proof of extraterrestrial life, alien technology, or institutional cover-ups. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated that additional files will be released on a rolling basis as reviews continue, with many sightings tracing back to infrared sensor distortions, aircraft heat signatures, and classified aerospace test flights.
