SALT LAKE CITY – Notable leadership changes and global expansion marked Teh Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints‘ 194th Annual General Conference, concluded Sunday, April 13, 2025. Announcements included the sustaining of 16 new General Authorities as Seventies, a new General Presidency for the Young Men association, adjustments within the Presidency of the Seventies, and the release of five current Seventies to emeritus status, effective August 1.
These shifts represent a continuing effort to adapt the Church’s leadership structure to meet the evolving needs of it’s worldwide membership. The changes impact local congregations and regional operations, as well as the direction of youth programs globally. Seventy-eight new Area Seventies were also sustained, with an additional 57 designated for release on or before August 1, further strengthening the Church’s presence in communities around the globe.
The conference also featured the addition of twelve musicians from nine countries to the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square, enriching the musical experience for attendees and viewers worldwide during Sunday morning and afternoon sessions.
On thursday, April 3, leadership sessions formalized these changes, signaling a period of transition and renewed focus for the Church’s governing bodies. The five general Authorities being released as emeriti are: Baxter, Bennett, Hamilton, Pino, and zeballos.
