Gaza Students Evacuated: 34 UK University Scholars Arrive

Gaza Students Evacuated to UK to Continue University Studies Amidst Ongoing Conflict

London, UK – in a notable progress amidst the ongoing conflict, 34 Palestinian students from Gaza who have secured places at British universities are being evacuated and are expected to arrive in the United Kingdom within days. This marks the first accomplished departure of individuals from the Gaza Strip for the purpose of continuing their education in the UK since the outbreak of hostilities.

The students, all recipients of fully-funded scholarships – including the prestigious Chevening Scholarship program – received crucial support from the UK government to facilitate their departure. The group, which includes at least four aspiring medical doctors, was assisted in leaving Gaza on Wednesday and is currently undergoing necessary visa biometric checks in a neighboring contry before completing their journey.

“This is a moment of hope amidst immense hardship,” said Dr. Nora Parr, a researcher at the University of Birmingham who has been instrumental in coordinating support for the students. “Months of campaigning by politicians, academics, and concerned individuals have culminated in this vital evacuation.”
