Jakarta – Former TNI Commander General Purnot gatot Nurmantyo is being considered as a candidate to fill the position of Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law, and Security (Menko Polhukam), following a reshuffle by President Prabowo Subianto.
Political and Military Observer from the National University (Unas), congratulations Ginting, stated that NurmantyoS inclusion in the candidate pool is a logical growth. “Prabowo’s relationship with Gatot Nurmantyo has been consistently positive,” Ginting said on Saturday, September 13, 2025. He further noted the similarly amicable relationship between Nurmantyo and former President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). “Therefore, it is legitimate for Gatot’s name to be included in the consideration for the Coordinating Minister for Politics and Security position,” Ginting added.
However, Ginting pointed to a strained relationship between Nurmantyo and former President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), stemming from Nurmantyo’s removal from his post prior to his scheduled retirement.
