YPSILANTI, Mich.- The Detroit Mercy Titans secured a 71-62 victory over the Eastern Michigan Eagles on Wednesday night at the convocation Center, marking their fourth win of the season. Graduate student Jasmine edwards led all scorers with 21 points, shooting 8-for-14 from the field, and adding eight rebounds. The win continues a promising start for Head Coach Kiefer Haffey’s squad,building momentum after a strong showing in early-season games.
detroit Mercy (4-2) showcased resilience, overcoming a slow start and battling through a tight contest against their in-state rivals. The Titans trailed by as many as 10 points in the first half but rallied with a strong defensive effort and efficient offense in the second half, outscoring Eastern Michigan 41-30. Aaliyah McQueen contributed 14 points and seven rebounds, while Makayla Jackson added 12 points.
The game was characterized by physical play and strategic adjustments from both teams. Detroit Mercy capitalized on 23 Eastern Michigan turnovers, converting them into 20 points. The Titans also demonstrated improved free-throw shooting, going 16-for-21 (76.2%) from the line. Eastern Michigan was led by tayra Eke with 16 points and seven rebounds.
