Barranquilla, Colombia – Junior de Barranquilla’s shareholder, Fuad Char Abdala, affirmed that head coach Alfredo Arias will remain with teh club despite a recent disappointing loss, and confirmed Arias is under contract through June 30, 2026. The statement comes after Junior fell short in a crucial match last Wednesday at the Roberto Meléndez Metropolitan Stadium, sparking speculation about potential coaching changes.
Char abdala acknowledged the painful defeat, stating, “Yesterday’s result was very painful, very sad for us, for the people, for all the team’s fans, but, well, it was one of those games where we came up twenty times and didn’t score. we had many opportunities. One minute before they made it 2-1 to one of them, we had two or three opportunities to score. But hey, that’s football.” He dismissed rumors circulating on social media regarding Arias’s position, emphasizing regular meetings with the coach to discuss game performance and future plans.
Char clarified that he met Thursday with Arias, his son Antonio Char, president of junior, and club manager Hector Fabio Baez, reiterating Arias’s contractual security.”No, not at all, we are not thinking that. He has a contract with us until next year, until June 30. We hope to enter among the eight and put up a fight,” Char stated.
