FSU Beach Volleyball Remains Undefeated, Sweeps Unconquered Invitational | 2026 Season

February 23, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

TALLAHASSEE – The Florida State Seminoles beach volleyball team extended its undefeated start to the 2026 season, defeating Southeastern Louisiana University (SLU) 5-0 on Sunday to conclude the Unconquered Invitational. The victory capped a weekend of competition for FSU against a field including UAB, Cal State Bakersfield, North Alabama, and Georgia State.

Florida State has now won all six of its dual matches this season without dropping a single point, amassing a total of 35 dual points throughout the invitational. The team is now within striking distance of the program’s record for consecutive dual wins, set during its inaugural 2012 season at eight matches. That 2012 streak included victories over UAB, Tulane, and Florida Gulf Coast University.

Head coach Brooke Niles saw 16 of her athletes contribute to wins during the tournament, highlighting the depth of the Seminole roster. Six players secured their first dual victories as members of the FSU beach volleyball program: Saofe Duval, Camryn Haworth, Jess Horwath, Elena Lam, Lennox Langham, and Julia Tennoy.

The final match against SLU saw Florida State secure four of the five dual points in straight sets. A closely contested match on court four saw Haworth and Kyleene Filimaua ultimately prevail after a three-set battle. After falling 20-22 in the second set, the duo rallied, winning the decisive third set 15-10, fueled by defensive plays from Haworth and a key spike from Filimaua.

The Lions of Southeastern Louisiana also participated in the Unconquered Invitational, opening their 2026 season in Tallahassee. Georgia State finished the invitational with a 4-1 record, securing wins over Southeastern Louisiana and Cal State Bakersfield on Saturday.

Florida State will next host ranked opponents No. 17 North Florida, and No. 15 Florida Atlantic University (FAU) before facing UNC Wilmington in the Seminole Beach Bash. Friday’s matches will include a celebration of Seminole Heritage, and Saturday will feature activities for the team’s Kids Club. Live statistics for all matches will be available on VolleyballLife.com.
