FritzOS 8.24 Beta: New Update Fixes WLAN & Display Issues
Fritz, formerly AVM, has released a laboratory version of FritzOS 8.24 as a beta firmware update for nine FritzBox models, addressing reported issues with WLAN performance and the online monitor display. The update is available for users of the FritzBox 5690, 7690, 7590 AX, 7590, 7530 AX, 7530, 4690, 4060, and 4050.
According to the Berlin-based networking device manufacturer, the beta firmware resolves a problem causing reduced upload speeds in certain WLAN configurations. Users should experience restored bandwidth after installing the update. A bug within the online monitor, which incorrectly indicated an inactive connection when one was active, has also been corrected.
The update also includes adjustments to the online counter for mobile connections, ensuring accurate data consumption reporting. Fritz has also stated that the release incorporates general improvements to system stability in preparation for the final release of FritzOS 8.24.
Cable variants of FritzBox routers received a separate laboratory update a few days prior, according to Winfuture.de.
Fritz emphasizes that, as a beta version, the laboratory firmware may still contain undiscovered errors. The company advises users to create a backup of their current settings via the router interface at fritz.box before initiating the update process.
The release of FritzOS 8.24 follows AVM’s official rebranding as Fritz GmbH in August 2025. The company has been developing networking devices, including DSL, cable, and 5G routers, since 1986, known for their all-in-one functionality, integrated features like telephony and mesh networking, and long-term update support.
