Fred Rosser Coaches Sting’s Son, Steven Borden – Wrestling News
Former WWE performer Fred Rosser is now dedicating a significant portion of his time to coaching Steven Borden, the son of wrestling icon Sting, as Borden pursues a professional wrestling career.
Rosser, who competed in WWE as Darren Young, revealed the extent of his involvement during an appearance on the Paltrocast with Darren Paltrowitz. “The coaching is pretty full-time,” Rosser stated. “I’m working with Sting’s son Steven Borden, helping to groom him privately and helping him become all that he’s created to be inside the ring. He’s working hard, doing some dark matches, getting some reps in front of a crowd. That means a lot to me. That’s a personal project that I’m trying to conquer.”
Borden, wrestling under his given name, has already participated in seven professional matches. His career gained momentum with appearances in AEW dark matches, as well as for DEFY Wrestling. He also played a role in his father’s retirement match at AEW Revolution in 2024, portraying the Wolfpac version of Sting. Tony Khan, head of AEW, has publicly stated that Borden’s development is a “huge priority” for the promotion, with plans already underway for his entrance music.
Beyond his AEW engagements, Borden has been honing his skills alongside current AEW star Darby Allin. Rosser, currently working for New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW), also serves as the head trainer at the NJPW Academy in Los Angeles.
Rosser is scheduled to face David Finlay at NJPW New Beginning USA on February 27. Finlay is reportedly a target for a potential return to WWE.
