Frankenstein Movie: Guillermo del Toro’s Monster Wins Venice Ovation

Guillermo ‌del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein‘ Receives 15-Minute Standing Ovation at Venice Film Festival

Venice, Italy – ‌Guillermo del Toro’s ⁢highly anticipated ‌adaptation of Mary ⁣Shelley‘s Frankenstein premiered ⁣at the⁢ venice Film Festival⁢ this evening, eliciting a remarkable⁢ 15-minute standing ovation from ​an enthusiastic audience. The ‍film,starring Oscar Isaac as Dr.​ Victor Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as his creation, is in competition‍ for the festival’s top prize, the Golden Lion.

Del​ Toro, a previous Golden Lion winner for 2017’s The Shape of Water (which later won⁣ four Oscars, including Best⁣ Picture and Director), has spent​ years developing this version⁢ of the classic tale. Frankenstein will be released by ⁣Netflix in November.⁢ The‌ director described the story as a lifelong passion,stating,”It was a religion for me…I always waited⁤ for the movie to be done​ in the right conditions,both creatively ​in terms of‍ achieving⁢ the scope ‍that it needed for me to ‍make it​ different,to make it at a ⁣scale that you could ​reconstruct the whole ‌world.”

The film also features Mia Goth, Felix Kammerer, ‍Lars​ Mikkelsen,‌ David Bradley, christian Convery, Charles Dance,⁣ and Christoph Waltz. Del‍ Toro produced the film alongside J. Miles Dale‍ and‍ Scott Stuber.

Frankenstein adapts Shelley’s ⁤1818 novel,focusing on ⁤the ⁢tragic ​story⁤ of a brilliant scientist⁢ who brings a ⁣creature to ⁣life,only to see both creator and creation ⁢undone by the experiment. The premiere marks a meaningful moment for the‌ film and signals early‍ awards season buzz‌ for del Toro and his cast.
