The decision to pursue Anfang, a former fortuna player with 84 appearances across Bundesliga and 3. Liga, was complicated by his existing contract with 1.FC Kaiserslautern, which runs through 2026. Resolving that contractual situation proved necessary before progressing with the appointment.
