Fortnite Appears to Relax Nipple Policy wiht New Character Skin
Cary, NC – After weeks of speculation sparked by a detail on a Homer Simpson skin, Fortnite developer Epic Games appears to have broadened its policy regarding the depiction of male anatomy. A newly released skin in the game’s Chapter 7 battle pass, Carter Wu, features visibly detailed nipples – a first in nearly a decade of Fortnite history.
The change follows fan observations of two raised areas on the chest of the Homer Simpson skin, released earlier this month, prompting questions about a potential shift in the game’s long-standing avoidance of nipple depiction. Initial theories suggested the Homer Simpson design might be an isolated case due to licensing agreements or the character’s art style.
Though, the inclusion of detailed nipples on a standard Fortnite skin-and one prominently featured in the current battle pass-suggests a more widespread policy adjustment.
Previously, numerous topless characters have appeared in Fortnite, including Travis Scott, Kratos from God of War, Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender, John Cena, Goku from Dragonball Z, and Marvel heroes Drax and The Hulk, all rendered without nipples. Even promotional crossovers, such as one with philips body hair shavers, featured smooth-chested models.
It remains to be seen whether Epic Games will retroactively add nipples to existing skins. IGN has previously reached out to Epic Games for comment on the game’s nipple policy but has not received an official statement.
