Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2: Release Date, Leaks & What to Expect

Epic Games has confirmed that the launch of Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 will now occur on Thursday, March 19, 2026, following a two-week delay from its originally scheduled early March release.

The extended season one of Chapter 7, the game’s longest in six years, is nearing its conclusion. Epic has been teasing the upcoming changes, with a particular focus on the return of The Seven and the mystery surrounding the fate of The Foundation, their leader. The Foundation, previously portrayed with the likeness and voice of Dwayne Johnson, disappeared into the Zero Point at the end of Chapter 3 Season 2, and his whereabouts have been a central question for players.

While Epic has not detailed the specifics of The Foundation’s return, or whether Johnson will reprise his role, design director Ted Timmins has offered a series of cryptic hints about the broader changes coming in Season 2. These include a “mostly refreshed loot pool,” the introduction of new movement items – including one designed for squad use – and gameplay updates Timmins described as “dialing up the loony tunes.”

Leaks suggest a potential collaboration with Looney Tunes, aligning with Timmins’ comments, and hinting at the possible inclusion of characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Lola Bunny in the new season’s battle pass. Separate leaks, corroborated by three independent sources, also point to a collaboration with Overwatch, featuring skins for Tracer, D.Va, Genji, and Mercy, with one leaker claiming an Overwatch character will be featured on the battle pass.

However, the credibility of some leaks has been called into question following the sudden disappearance of a prominent leaker known as AdiraFNInfo. Adira had a remarkably accurate track record, correctly predicting several recent collaborations, including those with 28 Years Later, Ed Edd n Eddy, and Solo Leveling. Before their account vanished on February 23, Adira also leaked potential collaborations with Minecraft, Ben 10, Kingdom Hearts, Game of Thrones, and Masters of the Universe. The veracity of these remaining leaks is now uncertain.

The delay of Season 2 coincides with ongoing technical issues that have plagued Fortnite since the beginning of January, following the South Park-themed event. While Epic Games has not officially attributed the delay to these problems, speculation suggests the extra time is being used to address the bugs and ensure a smoother launch for the new season. A final update for the current season is expected on March 5.

Timmins also teased a “new-aged meta loot spot” that will activate mid-game, potentially referencing a revamped version of previous features like loot islands or mod bench vaults. He also shared a single word teaser: “bearer,” which some speculate may be a reference to Yggdrasil, the world tree in Norse mythology, fueling existing theories about a Norse mythology theme for Season 2.
