Hong Kong‘s Don Li Faces mounting Pressure Caring for Sick Parents
Hong Kong – Former singer Don Li Yat-long,43,is grappling with the emotional and financial strain of caring for his ailing parents,revealing the hardship in a recent social media post. Li, who left the entertainment industry in June for personal reasons, described the experience of having sick parents as “more frightening than not earning any money.”
The former artiste shared that his father was diagnosed with cancer shortly before his birthday, an event that left him shaken. he also disclosed that his mother now requires a walking stick due to leg problems, compounding the challenges of providing care. Li admitted to feeling overwhelmed, stating, “Perhaps this is what a middle-aged breakdown feels like – afraid of getting sick, afraid of being poor and afraid to admit I can’t cope.”
Financial pressures are meaningful. According to HK01, Li spent approximately HK$200,000 (RM108,311) on medical expenses in a single week.He has previously stated he works five jobs daily to make ends meet.
Li’s situation has drawn an outpouring of support from fans and industry colleagues, who have expressed hope for the family’s well-being. The singer has not detailed his future plans but continues to navigate the difficulties of balancing work and family responsibilities.
