Forest‘s Movy Club Set for 2027 Reopening After Years of Planning

The historic Movy Club cinema in Forest, Brussels, is slated to reopen in early 2027 following a revitalization project initiated in 2016.
A Long-Awaited Revival
Brussels Minister-President Rudi Vervoort (PS) expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “The region welcomes this new stage which will make the Movy Club revive. Moviegoers will soon be able to regain the atmosphere of ancient neighborhood cinemas.”
The effort to preserve the Movy Club began in 2016 when Charles Spaps (PS), then alderman of culture adn currently the bourgmestre of forest, took the first steps toward its conservation. Spaps remarked, “We were convinced of its cultural and heritage potential. seeing this project materialize is immense satisfaction. Residents are impatiently awaiting the reopening.”
Selection of Operator
Four applications were received for the cinema’s operation.”The little cinema and cinema” ultimately prevailed, earning a score of 80/100 due to its enterprising programming, strong local ties, and cooperative business model.
Renovation and Lease Details
Brussels Facilities is undertaking the renovation work. the operating contract will be awarded for an initial period of ten years,with the possibility of two five-year renewals.
