Ford Focus to be Replaced by Crossover in 2027

Valencia, Spain – Ford will discontinue production of the Focus in November 2025, ending the run of one of it’s best-selling models – over 85,000 units were delivered in 2024 alone. Unlike the Fiesta, whose production ended in 2023 wiht customers expected to transition to the Puma, the Focus will not have a direct replacement in the customary hatchback/wagon segment, leaving an opening for competitors.

However, Ford plans to launch three new models in Europe by 2027, including a crossover intended to succeed the Focus in the brand’s lineup. The new vehicle will position itself between the Puma and Kuga, competing with models like the Cupra Formentor.

The crossover will be produced alongside the Kuga at Ford’s Valencia, Spain plant, and is expected to share many key components, possibly including the C2 platform currently used by the Focus. While the C2 platform has not previously been used with a fully electric powertrain, ford may adapt it to accommodate hybrid and electric options as it works towards increasing its share of electric vehicles in Europe ahead of 2035.

Ford aims to differentiate the new crossover from its fully electric Explorer and Capri models, which target a different customer base,by offering a diversified engine lineup and a price point below the Explorer’s €41,000 price tag.
