Chichester City Football Club mourns teh Loss of Billy Vigar, 21
Chichester City footballer Billy Vigar has died at the age of 21 after sustaining a important brain injury during a recent match. The promising young player passed away surrounded by family, the club confirmed, prompting an outpouring of grief from the football community.
Vigar’s death marks a tragic loss for the Isthmian league club, to which he recently joined, and underscores the inherent risks faced by athletes. His next scheduled game against Lewes has been postponed as a mark of respect, and a minute of silence will be observed before all Isthmian League matches, with players wearing black armbands.
According to a tribute on the Arsenal website, where Vigar developed through their youth system, he was described as “fast, powerful and fiercely determined.” The club added, “Along with his great talent, Billy will always be remembered for his love to the game, pride when representing our football club – onc he said that the day he was discovered by our agents had been ‘the most crucial of his life’-and a character loved by both his teammates and by the coaches.”
Vigar also played for Derby County, Hastings United, and Eastbourne Borough during his career.
The FA (Football Association) authorities of England expressed their devastation at Vigar’s passing. Chichester City released a statement saying, “Rest in peace, Billy. forever in everyone’s hearts in the Chichester City Football Club.”
