Football: Teams Shine in Post-Holiday Return to Competition
A strong weekend of results across all levels has energized US Cenon football club, marking a prosperous return to competition following the recent holiday break. From dominant youth performances to hard-fought draws and reserve team victories, the club demonstrated it’s depth and competitive spirit.
The weekend’s standout performance came from the U15 team, competing in R2. They secured their 7th consecutive victory, remaining undefeated and firmly in first place in their group. This impressive run of form not only solidifies their position as contenders but also places them as strong favorites for the Aquitaine Cup. This early season success bodes well for the future of the club’s youth growth program.
The girls’ teams also delivered exciting results, continuing their progress at Loret. The U15 girls secured a thrilling 5-3 victory in a closely contested match, showcasing their attacking prowess and resilience.
The first team, playing in R2, battled to a valuable draw away against Saint Emilion. Despite a late equalizer from the home side denying them all three points, the draw is a positive result as they strive to climb away from the relegation zone. The team will be looking to convert these hard-earned points into wins in the coming weeks.
rounding out the weekend’s success, the R3 reserve team returned to winning ways with a confident victory at home against Biarritz. This win provides a boost in morale and momentum for the squad.
