Tusky Valley Football Player Paralyzed after On-Field Injury
WAYNESDALE, OH – Mayson White, a football player for Tusky Valley High School, is currently paralyzed following an injury sustained during a game on Friday night. white fractured his C4 vertebra, causing pressure on his spine.
He underwent surgery on Saturday, but his family confirmed his paralysis in a social media post. Amanda White, Mayson’s mother, shared an update on Facebook through the Waynesdale Athletics page, requesting prayers for her son.
“He has some movement in his right arm, but not his hand, and he can shrug his shoulders, but nothing in his legs. And although this was not the outcome we had been hoping for,we are just so thankful that he is still here with us!
“Our lives may look different,his life may look different,but he is still our Mayson! We love him so much and are prepared to do everything he needs us to do and be everything he needs us to be! Please hug your babies tight. If I could trade places with him, I would quicker than a heartbeat!”
According to his mother, Mayson is aware of conversations and responds by nodding his head.
Tusky Valley High School’s football team, coaches, and management received counseling support on Sunday to address the emotional impact of the incident. tusky Valley High School is located in Waynesdale, Ohio, and is part of the Tusky Valley Local School District.
