Fold Partners with Blackhawk Network too Bring Bitcoin Gift Cards to Major Retailers

ATLANTA, GA – July 31, 2025 – Fold, a personal finance app focused on Bitcoin, has announced a important partnership with Blackhawk Network (BHN), a leading gift card and incentives platform. This collaboration aims to make Bitcoin more accessible to mainstream consumers by integrating Bitcoin gift cards into BHN’s extensive retail distribution network.

The Fold Bitcoin Gift Card, launched in May 2025, allows individuals to gift Bitcoin without requiring recipients to have prior technical knowledge or a cryptocurrency wallet. Recipients can redeem their Bitcoin gifts directly through the Fold App.

Under the new agreement, BHN will distribute the fold Bitcoin Gift Card, initially available at select online retailers, with plans to expand to both online and physical retail stores later this year. This move is expected to significantly increase the availability of Bitcoin gift products in the U.S. market.

Jennifer Philo, GVP of Global Commerce at BHN, stated that the company recognizes the growing consumer demand for flexibility in managing and storing value, with cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin becoming an integral part of this trend. She highlighted Fold as a forward-thinking partner creating products that integrate Bitcoin into everyday financial engagement and long-term value building. Philo added that by incorporating the Fold Bitcoin Gift Card into BHN’s retail ecosystem, they are providing a practical and accessible way for consumers nationwide to engage with cryptocurrency, enabling them to earn, save, and spend smarter.

Fold chose BHN, a branded payments provider established in 2001 with a global presence across more than 400,000 consumer touchpoints, including major retailers, e-commerce platforms, and loyalty programs.

Will Reeves, Chairman and CEO of Fold, commented on the partnership’s potential to democratize Bitcoin access. He explained that previously, Bitcoin was tough for the average person to acquire or share. By offering Bitcoin as a gift card, Fold is opening up access to millions of consumers who are already familiar with buying, sending, and using gift cards. Reeves emphasized that this initiative is about meeting consumers where they are and integrating Bitcoin into existing financial tools and channels, thereby building infrastructure for everyday adoption. He believes BHN provides the crucial pathway into mainstream retail, unlocking access to Bitcoin within the considerable $300 billion U.S. gift card market, an area the cryptocurrency ecosystem has historically struggled to penetrate.
