Ben Stiller offered updates on the upcoming Meet the parents sequel, titled Focker-in-Law, at the Emmys red carpet, revealing positive experiences working with new cast member Ariana Grande and hinting at the potential return of Barbra Streisand. The film, slated for release on November 25, 2026, will reunite Stiller with Robert De Niro, Teri Polo, and blythe Danner.
The fourth installment in the franchise arrives nearly 16 years after Little Fockers (2010), capitalizing on renewed interest in the comedic dynamic established by the original 2000 film, written by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg and directed by Jay Roach. Focker-in-Law aims to refresh the series with a new generation of talent while retaining its core appeal.
Stiller praised Grande’s professionalism and comedic timing, stating, “What’s surprising, and maybe not really surprising, is how amazingly she blended in. She’s such a pro, she’s so funny, she’s so talented, obviously as a singer, but also she was so funny and amazing in Wicked. What she’s doing in this movie is very unique, it’s a very unique character, and we’re having a great time and just like to work with her.” Grande joins Skyler Gisondo and Beanie Feldstein as new additions to the Meet the Parents universe.
When questioned about the possibility of Barbra streisand reprising her role as Roz from Meet the Fockers (2004) and Little Fockers, Stiller responded, “I mean, we all would love it – we’re in process.” John Hamburg is confirmed to write and direct the sequel. The original film starred Stiller as Greg Focker,a nurse navigating awkward encounters with his future father-in-law.
