Flyers Recall Alex Bump, Cole Knuble, and Jacob Gaucher
The Philadelphia Flyers recalled forwards Alex Bump and Cole Knuble from the American Hockey League’s Lehigh Valley Phantoms ahead of a home game against the Colorado Avalanche. The organization handled a growing list of early-season absences by turning to its minor league affiliate to patch together a depleted lineup.
Roster Shakeup Brings Three Forwards Up From Lehigh Valley
Alongside Bump and Knuble, forward Jacob Gaucher appeared on the NHL media website’s roster leading up to puck drop, signaling an imminent formal recall. To clear the necessary space on the active roster, Philadelphia moved forward Owen Tippett to injured reserve following an upper-body injury.

The moves offered immediate reinforcements as the team managed injuries and absences affecting several regulars. Travis Konecny, Cam York, and Rasmus Ristolainen remained unavailable for the contest against Colorado. The influx of minor league talent provided the coaching staff with fresh options.
Scoring Streaks and Family Lineages Shape the Recalls
Bump, 22, initially made Philadelphia’s opening-night roster before going scoreless in three games while averaging 12:08 of ice time in a bottom-six role. The Flyers reassigned him on October 7th after signing Michael Bunting. Following that demotion, Bump scored seven goals in five games for Lehigh Valley.
Jacob Gaucher is listed on Flyers' roster via NHL media website. Gives the banged-up Flyers another option up front.
His AHL production added to a résumé that included previous success at Western Michigan and nine points in 17 games with the Flyers last season. If Tyson Foerster, listed as a game-time decision after taking a shot to the hand, could not play, Bump stood to gain more meaningful minutes in the top six.
Knuble, also 22, stood poised to make his NHL debut against the Avalanche. Drafted in the fourth round in 2023, he spent three seasons at Notre Dame prior to turning professional. He carried a familiar family connection to the franchise, as his father, Mike Knuble, recorded 118 goals and 229 points in 338 games for Philadelphia across two stints in the late 2000s and early 2010s. The younger Knuble recorded one goal and four points in six AHL games.

Gaucher provided a third forward option after posting four goals and eight points in six games with Lehigh Valley, though he carried a -3 rating. Gaucher previously made his NHL debut in February of the 2024-25 campaign and remained scoreless in eight career games at the top level.
Lineup Decisions Depend on Injury Recovery Timelines
The immediate performance of the newly recalled forwards would dictate how long they remained with the parent club. Decisions from the coaching staff depended heavily on how quickly injured veterans healed and returned to the ice. Whether Bump, Knuble, and Gaucher could force an extended stay in the NHL relied entirely on their showing against Colorado and the subsequent health updates of the roster’s regulars.
