Florida Gators Gymnastics: SEC Champions & Recent Updates
TULSA, Okla. — The Florida Gators secured the Southeastern Conference Gymnastics Championship title Saturday night, narrowly defeating Oklahoma 198.175 to 198.15, a margin of just 0.025 points – the closest possible finish in the meet’s 45-year history.
The victory, held at the BOK Center in Tulsa, marks Florida’s 13th SEC championship and their first since 2023, according to UF coach Jenny Rowland. The Gators’ triumph hinged on a dominant performance on the uneven bars, where they achieved a meet-best score of 49.80.
Selena Harris-Miranda delivered a perfect 10.0 on the uneven bars, a moment she described as deeply emotional. “All I could do is cry,” she said, according to College Football Network. Skye Blakely and Kayla DiCello contributed scores of 9.975 on bars, while Riley McCusker anchored the rotation with a 9.925.
The competition was exceptionally tight throughout the evening. Florida opened with a 49.525 on balance beam, taking an early lead. LSU briefly moved ahead at the midway point, before Oklahoma surged into first place following a 49.625 on beam. However, Florida’s performance on bars proved decisive.
Kayla DiCello led the Gators’ all-around performance with a score of 39.725, finishing second to LSU’s Kailin Chio (39.775). Harris-Miranda placed third with a 49.65, and Blakely followed in fourth with a 49.625.
LSU finished in second place with a total score of 197.95, while Alabama placed fourth with 197.475. Georgia posted a season-high 197.45, securing fifth place.
The narrow margin of victory – 0.025 – is only the third time in the meet’s history a champion has been decided by that amount, and the second time Florida has emerged victorious under such circumstances, previously occurring in 2016. Florida had set the national all-time high uneven bars total of 49.85 in the 2025 SEC meet, and continued to demonstrate strength on the event this year.
Rowland emphasized the team’s resilience and determination, stating, “They fought hard. They were true Gators tonight.”
