FAMU amplifies Recruitment Efforts with Back-to-Back Events in Tampa Bay Area
ST. PETERSBURG, FL – November 21, 2025 – Florida A&M University (FAMU) is intensifying its recruitment drive, recently hosting consecutive events in St. Petersburg and Tampa, Florida, aimed at attracting the next generation of Rattlers. The university’s Destination FAMU Recruitment Tour showcased the institution’s commitment to accessibility and academic excellence,reaching hundreds of prospective students across the Tampa Bay region.
FAMU’s proactive outreach comes as the university celebrates its recent recognition as the nation’s top public Historically Black Collage and University (HBCU). This distinction, coupled with the growing demand for HBCU education, underscores the importance of FAMU’s recruitment efforts in maintaining its position as a leading academic institution and expanding opportunities for students seeking a culturally rich and academically challenging habitat. The tour aims to demonstrate that a FAMU education can be a springboard to success, nonetheless of a student’s background or aspirations.
The recruitment events featured interactive sessions led by FAMU representatives, current students, and the reigning Queen of Orange and Green, Tamia Williams, who energized attendees with spirited FAMU chants. Pinckney, a prospective student who attended one of the events, shared that the atmosphere felt “all-inclusive,” adding, “They make you feel welcome, like this is your community.” She has already submitted her request for early admission.
“We didn’t get that number one public HBCU designation by just showing up,” Johnson, a member of FAMU’s recruitment team, emphasized to students in Tampa. “It’s a reflection of the excellence of our students and our faculty.” The team’s core message throughout both events was clear: FAMU provides a pathway to limitless possibilities for its graduates.
FAMU’s Destination FAMU Recruitment Tour is ongoing, with future events planned throughout Florida and beyond. The university anticipates a strong applicant pool for the upcoming academic year,building on the momentum generated by its recent successes and its unwavering commitment to student achievement.
